The Formula E 2026–27 season calendar was unveiled a few weeks ago amid much fanfare and is the longest in the history of the electric racing series. With 21 races set to be held across the globe, the calendar also features new venues, including Austin in the US and Zandvoort in the Netherlands. When the drivers were asked for their reaction to the new calendar, most shared their excitement about racing at Zandvoort. COTA in the US and Brands Hatch in the UK also received mentions from several drivers, who will be racing at those circuits for the first time.
Nyck De Vries, Taylor Barnard ready to race at Zandvoort
A video was shared on Formula E’s Instagram page with the caption: “What do the drivers make of our 2026/27 calendar? We caught up with them during track walk for their first reactions.”Taylor Barnard, who drives for DS Penske, shared his excitement about Zandvoort. He said, “Zandvoort’s a great addition. I said when I first joined last year that actually I think it would be a good addition because of the braking zones and how much you get to recharge actually, so I think that was a good addition.”“Brands Hatch obviously, I’ve never raced there but that’s a great addition. And starting and ending the season on night races is pretty cool as well, so looking forward to it,” he added.Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries also shared his excitement about Zandvoort. The Dutch driver said, “Yeah, it’s very nice to get a chance to race at Zandvoort. I didn’t race in the Netherlands since 2012, so it’s been a while. I never got a chance to race at Zandvoort and always really loved the track. So yeah, looking forward to it.”
Antonio Felix Da Costa, Dan Ticktum eager to race in America
Cupra Kiro driver Dan Ticktum is excited to race in America. He said, “COTA, Texas, very, very cool. Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, wanted to do a lot more sightseeing in America, I’ve only really been to Miami and that’s it more or less. It’s cool, Route 66 is not bad. Yeah, I need to, at some point I will do an America tour, absolutely.”“Brands Hatch obviously very cool, fantastic, old-school, proper race circuit. It’ll be great in the Gen4 car. I think now all the Goodwood stuff’s been announced, I’m allowed to admit that I have driven the car. It is a very big step up and I think it’s going to be, yeah, pretty special around Brands Hatch, that’ll be cool,” he further said.Jaguar TCS Racing driver Antonio Felix da Costa is excited to race in the US. He said, “So I’m a big fan of racing in the States. I think they just get it and good entertainment and you know having kind of back-to-back races out there is going to be cool. So yeah, and Austin itself, I mean I love Texas, so going to Texas is going to be awesome.”Zane Maloney of Lola Yamaha ABT said about the calendar: “I think all the additions were really good. Brands Hatch – I won my British F4 title there on the GP circuit. I have good memories there. I’d like to go back next year; I can’t wait. COTA – I watched F1 there a few years ago, and it’s an amazing track. I’m looking forward to it.”“What else is there? Zandvoort – I won there in F3. During the F3 season, or really throughout my junior career, it was probably my best track. So, it’s going to feel very different in an F1 car. But I’m looking forward to it. The banking will be amazing. And generally, going to these great facilities and F1 circuits is a good introduction to F1. And then having a bit of British history with Brands Hatch,” he added.The Formula E 2026–27 season will begin in December with the Jeddah double-header.
