Patna: Federation of University Teachers Association of Bihar (Futab) has welcomed the chancellor’s directive asking the higher education department and universities to clear all salary and retirement dues of serving and retired employees by July 20. The association expressed hope that the time-bound order would be implemented.Futab working president K B Sinha and general secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, MLC, also welcomed the chancellor’s concern over the hardship faced by university teachers and staff due to the alleged arbitrariness of the pay verification cell (PVC). They said thousands of serving and retired employees were awaiting clearance of their dues despite no fault of theirs.Alleging widespread corruption in the PVC, the association said complaints against it had gone unheard. It also pointed out that the Patna high court, including in its May 14, 2026 order, had ruled that the PVC could not override pay fixation decisions taken by a university’s statutory committee. Futab demanded the PVC be scrapped immediately.
