NEW DELHI: Police said on Sunday they arrested three men who lured a youth to a park and stabbed him to death to avenge an earlier altercation, in which the victim had allegedly slapped one of the men and threatened another in New Usmanpur.A 20-year-old man was allegedly lured to a park and stabbed to death by three men seeking revenge for an earlier altercation in northeast Delhi, police said on Sunday.The accused allegedly told investigators they killed the youth after he had slapped one of them and threatened another during a previous dispute.He was rushed to JPC Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Police subsequently registered a murder case and launched an investigation.During the probe, police analysed local intelligence and found that Toheed had been involved in a quarrel with a group of men shortly before the incident.Based on the evidence collected, police arrested three residents of Seelampur, Shahnawaz (21), Noor Hasan (20) and Anas (21) on Saturday night.During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime and told police they wanted to “avenge an earlier altercation in which Toheed had allegedly slapped Noor Hasan and threatened Shahnawaz”.Police said the knife allegedly used in the murder has been recovered.Verification revealed that Shahnawaz was previously involved in a robbery case, while no criminal record has been found against Noor Hasan and Anas so far.Police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events surrounding the murder.(With PTI inputs)
