In one emotional message, she said she and Wells’ father, Elmore Wonsley, were struggling to understand what had happened and were hoping for answers. The search came to a devastating point on Monday morning when a body was discovered near the west end of Horn Island. According to officials, the discovery was made around 8:45 a.m. Authorities have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding Wells’ disappearance while his family mourns the loss of a young man many remembered as a bright and promising athlete.
