Water supply to be disrupted in several areas in Thiruvananthapuram city

T’puram: Water supply will be suspended for 24 hours in several parts of the city from 7am on Tuesday to 7am on Wednesday, due to emergency repair works on a leaking pipeline near Vellayambalam Junction, Kerala Water Authority (KWA) said in a statement.The disruption will affect areas coming under KWA’s Palayam, Pattom and Kowdiar sections. Wards likely to face water shortage include Sasthamangalam, Vazhuthacaud, Jagathy, Thycaud, Valiasala, Palayam, Kunnukuzhy, Gouri Nagar, Kannammoola, Anamugham, Nanthancode, Kowdiar, Peroorkada, Kuravankonam, Vanchiyoor, Thampanoor and Sreekanteswaram.KWA said the emergency maintenance has been scheduled to repair a major leak in the 700-mm Primo pipeline to prevent further damage and ensure uninterrupted distribution in the future.Consumers in the affected areas have been advised to store sufficient water in advance and make necessary arrangements to meet their essential requirements during the shutdown period, KWA said.
