Panchkula: Drinking water shortage and poor drainage during the monsoon emerged as the biggest civic issues raised by residents during the first public hearing and ward committee meeting of ward number 17 SundayThe meeting witnessed participation from a large number of residents, who highlighted various civic issues and submitted suggestions for improving basic amenities in the ward before councillor Ashok Kumar at the community centre in Sector 23.Most complaints came from residents of Kharak Mangoli, Nada Sahib, Chowki and Naggal Moginand, who raised concerns over inadequate drinking water supply and recurring waterlogging during the rainy season. Residents urged the municipal corporation and other departments concerned to resolve the issues on priority.The growing monkey menace in Sector 25 also figured prominently during the meeting. Residents said monkeys have become a daily nuisance, posing safety risks and causing inconvenience to people, and sought immediate intervention by the authorities.Street vendors also attended the meeting and demanded the development of a dedicated vending zone, saying it would help them carry out their business in an organised manner while reducing encroachments.Councillor Ashok Kumar assured residents that all complaints and suggestions would be forwarded to the departments concerned for prompt action. He said addressing public grievances and ensuring timely resolution of civic issues would remain his priority, adding that matters concerning public welfare would continue to be pursued with the administration.
