The Wallabies have slumped to their ninth loss in 10 Tests after going down 42-26 to France in the Nations Championship in Brisbane.

They have now won four straight Tests against the Wallabies for the first time in almost 60 years.

The Wallabies had led 21-12 at half-time in front of a sold-out crowd.

Fraser McReight was one of the few shining lights for the Wallabies, and his brace of tries in the first half helped his side lead at the break.
But France shifted gears after half-time, with Aaron Grandidier-Nkanang, Romain Ntamack, Florian Verhaeghe and Théo Attissogbe scoring tries to put the result beyond doubt.
Debutant winger Grandidier-Nkanang also scored a try in the first half.
Captain Maxime Lucu landed three conversions and two penalty goals for the Six Nations champions.
The Wallabies will need to re-group ahead of Schmidt’s final Test in charge next Saturday evening.

Wallabies back to drawing board

As Harry Wilson highlighted, the Wallabies were shown once more they need an 80-minute effort to beat the top guns of international rugby.
They have now lost nine of their past 10 Tests.
The first half against France was superb — they led 21-12 after converting on their attacking chances in the second 40.

The Wallabies’ defence fell away when it was under pressure in the second half.
They only managed to complete 68 per cent of their tackle attempts for the match, while France posted 82 per cent.
Simply, the Wallabies were dominated on both sides of the ball when the match was on the line.
Among the individual performances in the Wallabies squad, Fraser McReight was outstanding, however they needed 15 players on the field matching his standard.
Without a win in the Nations Championship, they now head to Perth to face Italy.
France plays Japan in Tokyo next Saturday.
