The ‘Scam’ franchise is set to return with its third instalment, ‘Scam 2010’. Hansal Mehta will return to the director’s chair for the upcoming series. He will co-direct the project with Sumit Purohit, who was part of the writing team of ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’.According to Bollywood Hungama, Sumit Purohit will share directorial duties with Hansal Mehta. The series has already gone on floors. The team is currently filming across multiple locations. Purohit’s involvement also marks a notable change in his association with the franchise. He previously contributed to its story as a writer. He will now help bring the third season to the screen as a director.
Sumit Purohit moves from writing to direction
Sumit Purohit has worked across writing and direction during his career. His association with ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ began as part of the writing team. The series introduced audiences to the dramatic world of financial scandals through the story of stockbroker Harshad Mehta. It starred Pratik Gandhi in the lead role and was directed by Hansal Mehta and Jai Mehta.
Hansal Mehta returns to the ‘Scam’ franchise
Hansal Mehta directed ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, which premiered in 2020. The series became a major success and earned widespread acclaim for its storytelling and performances. The franchise continued with ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ three years later. Hansal Mehta remained attached to the project as showrunner. Tushar Hiranandani directed the second season. For the third chapter, Hansal Mehta will once again take charge of direction. His collaboration with Sumit Purohit gives the new season a different directorial setup.
Siddharth Bodke to portray Subrata Roy
‘Scam 2010’ will focus on businessman Subrata Roy and the financial controversies surrounding Sahara India Pariwar. Siddharth Bodke has been cast as Subrata Roy. The Marathi actor has appeared in projects including ‘Devmanus’ and ‘Drishyam 2’. The series also features Kritika Singh, Moon Banerjee and Aditya Srivastava. Kritika Singh has appeared in ‘Rangbaaz’. Aditya Srivastava is widely known for his work in ‘CID’. Production on ‘Scam 2010’ began in late May. The series is being filmed across several cities, with Lucknow, Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai and Dehradun among the locations used for the shoot. The production is expected to continue until mid-September. The makers are currently targeting a global premiere in early 2027.The new season will follow the franchise’s previous stories involving Harshad Mehta and Abdul Karim Telgi. This time, the focus shifts to Subrata Roy and Sahara India Pariwar.
