Rescue crews are searching for a man after his canoe capsized in the Goulburn River, two hours north-east of Melbourne.
Police say the 53-year-old man and a friend were canoeing at Ghin Ghin, north-east of Yea when their boat flipped just before 10:45 this morning.
One of them made it to safety and called for help but the other is still missing and was not wearing a life jacket.
Ambulance Victoria says a Triple Zero (000) call was made at 10:45am.
A multi-agency search is underway involving Victoria Police, the Country Fire Authority, Lifesaving Victoria and the State Emergency Service (SES).
An SES spokesperson said the missing man was a “strong swimmer”, but the water in the river was “flowing quite rapidly”.
The canoe has been located.
The spokesperson said the man is 175 centimetres tall, caucasian with short blond hair.
Three members of the SES Swift Water Rescue Team are at the scene.
