“As captain, the accused was considered a ‘pilot in command’ and was ultimately responsible for aircraft operation and safety during flight,” Detective Sergeant Chad Mitchell said during the press conference. And while the man was licensed to fly and was a commercial pilot, Mitchell said, he was not licensed to fly passengers internationally, “you know, on 777s, 767s, 787s, and tens of thousands of passengers.”
