Mohali: Residents of Aura Homes near Nabha Sahib staged a protest against persistent waterlogging, seepage in flats and the absence of basic civic infrastructure Friday, alleging that the builder abandoned the project after selling most of the units.Holding placards and raising slogans, residents claimed several promised facilities, including a clubhouse, park, gated entry, boundary wall, proper sewerage network, sewage treatment plant (STP), rainwater harvesting system and paved internal roads, remain incomplete despite repeated assurances.Resident Sahil said even moderate rainfall leads to severe waterlogging within the society due to the lack of an effective drainage system. Water accumulates on internal roads, lift lobbies and common areas, while seepage in several flats has caused hardship to residents, especially children, senior citizens and women.Another resident, Shaili, alleged that the society still lacks a proper boundary wall and functional gated entry, raising security concerns. She claimed that though the builder has stated that rainwater harvesting and other infrastructure works have been completed, no approved plans or supporting documents have been shared with residents despite repeated requests.Residents said they had been receiving assurances for nearly three years without significant improvement on the ground. They urged the district administration and the departments concerned to inspect the project, verify the builder’s claims and ensure completion of all promised amenities. The protesters warned of intensifying their agitation if authorities failed to intervene. Among those participating in the protest were Shaili, Vimal, Rakhi, Navneet, Harvinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Ramesh Kumar.Responding to the allegations, builder Aman Sood said about 90% of the project had been sold and nearly half the flats were occupied. He attributed the recent waterlogging to heavy rainfall across Zirakpur and said the problem was not confined to Aura Homes.Sood maintained that the clubhouse was under construction and alleged that a few residents were protesting for personal reasons. He, however, said the company remained committed to addressing residents’ grievances.
