Varanasi: District magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Sunday carried out a surprise inspection of various under-construction projects underway on the DIET campus and other parts of districts and issued warning against delay in completion of work as well as compromise in quality of material.As news of the surprise inspection by Kumar spread, officials of department concerned rushed to their sites. Kumar sought information about progress of the 100-seater boys’ hostel, minor repairs of the institute campus and girls’ hostel, development of DIET as a Centre of Excellence, the multipurpose training hall/auditorium and the under-construction computer lab of Kasturba Gandhi Aawasiya Balika Vidyalaya.An engineer of the executing agency said putty work on the ground floor of the academic block (G+2), tile work on the first floor, plaster work on the second floor and outer back side, and repair of the residences and Kabir Hall was in progress. Work on the boundary wall, submersible, soakpit, septic tank, and the structure and putty of the seminar hall is complete.The DM directed for remaining work, including the girls’ hostel (G+2), rainwater harvesting, interlocking, solar power generator, CCTV, and volleyball court, to be completed soon, maintaining standards and quality. He asked for estimates to be prepared for campus beautification, Greenland development, park, CC road from the main gate to Kasturba Vidyalaya, main gate and the playground and timeliness must be ensured.Officials of DIET, UP C and DS, UP C L D F, UPPCL and Education Department were present.
