Warriors half Luke Metcalf has been named in jersey number 20 for the first time since requesting and receiving a release from the side to join the Dragons next season.
Metcalf, who led the Dally M count when he went down with a knee injury last season, meaning he missed the start of the year, during which Tanah Boyd started brilliantly.
Metcalf was basically stuck behind the in-form halves pairing of Boy and Chanel Harris-Tavita, and decided he didn’t want to be, so he requested a release in early May.
Shortly after he announced he was heading to the Dragons in 2027, Boyd tore his ACL, driving home just how premature Metcalf’s request really was.
And today he is named on the extended bench for just the second time since round five, potentially in line for his first minutes since April 5.
