North Delhi to have a 15-foot-tall bronze statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 3 months

New Delhi: The Delhi govt plans to install a 15-foot-tall, 1,500 kg bronze statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Azadpur roundabout in north Delhi, officials said.Calling the initiative a tribute to the statesman, urban development minister Ashish Sood said, “Former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna recipient, the revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji was a symbol of visionary leadership, good governance, and politics in the nation’s interest. His thoughts and life continue to inspire millions toward selfless service to the nation.”Beautification of the area along with the installation and development of basic facilities will be done, he added. PWD will undertake several infrastructure works, including improved lighting, landscaping of the roundabout, and repairs to the nearby foot over bridge.“PWD plans to hire a company which will design and install the sculpture; a tender has been floated in this regard. Work has to be completed in three months,” the official added.Vajpayee, the first PM from BJP, was also the founding president of the party.Earlier this year, CM Rekha Gupta inaugurated a statue of RSS founder K B Hedgewar in east Delhi, marking the Sangh’s 100th anniversary.
