Mandya: Preparations for the 2026-27 sugarcane crushing season at MySugar Factory began Tuesday with the lighting of the boiler and a trial run of the ‘A’ Mill. Deputy commissioner Kumara, MySugar chairman CD Gangadhar, Mandya District Central Cooperative Bank president Sachin Cheluvarayaswamy and MySugar managing director Mangal Das inaugurated the programme.Sugarcane was fed into the ‘A’ Mill as part of preliminary crushing operations. Addressing farmers and officials, Kumara said the factory had been directed to begin crushing from July 15 and that 5.4 lakh tonnes of sugarcane had been registered for the current season. He said the management was confident of crushing the entire quantity by the end of Nov.Gangadhar said all maintenance works had been completed. He announced that pending dues to farmers from the previous season had been cleared and assured payments within 15 days of cane supply during the current season.Incentive cheques of Rs 50 per tonne sanctioned by the state govt for sugarcane supplied last season were distributed to farmers. Senior factory officials and representatives of farmers’ organisations attended the event.
