Mohali: The Saanjh Rahat Kendra launched in Mohali has emerged as Punjab Police’s model for supporting women in distress, with the initiative now replicated in Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday.Over the past two years, the four centres have registered 1,069 cases and screened 1,656 women, providing counselling, legal aid, rehabilitation and police assistance. Yadav said the centres have helped women access shelter, legal support and timely intervention in cases of violence and distress.Special DGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo said the Saanjh Rahat Kendra offers counselling, legal aid and police support under one roof. Punjab Police also highlighted its broader outreach programmes on women and child safety.
