Patna: Following directions from education minister Mithilesh Tiwari, Madhepura district administration on Sunday suspended the headmaster of the school where a lizard’s tail was allegedly found in the mid-day meal, after which more than 40 students reportedly fell ill on Saturday.The administration has also disengaged the block resource person and the cook from their services. Action is also being initiated against the district programme officer of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme as well.Tiwari had earlier directed the Madhepura district magistrate to conduct an inquiry into the incident at a school in Gamhariya block and identify those responsible. He instructed officials to examine the role of the district education officer, district programme officer, headmaster, cook, resource person and other staff associated with the meal programme.The minister has also sought an explanation from the director of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme over the incident and directed officials to ensure that food served to schoolchildren meets prescribed quality and hygiene standards.“Providing safe and quality food to children in schools is the govt’s top priority. Any negligence or laxity will not be tolerated,” Tiwari said.He warned that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for lapses and said no one would be spared if such incidents were repeated.
