The Telugu film ‘Rao Bahadur’ has received a big boost after its release. Directed, written and edited by Venkatesh Maha, the film stars Satya Dev in the lead. If recent reports are to be believed an international production and distribution company has shown interest in acquiring the film’s remake rights.
International interest for ‘Rao Bahadur’
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the company’s executives learned about the film during the selection process for the Cannes Film Festival. They were shown a few glimpses of ‘Rao Bahadur’ even though the film was not officially selected for the festival. The movie could not complete the submission process on time because it was not finished before the deadline.Even though it missed the festival, the executives were highly impressed after watching parts of the film. They liked the story and believed it had strong potential to connect with audiences around the world.After ‘Rao Bahadur’ released on July 3, the international production house shared its interest in acquiring the film’s international rights. The company is now exploring two options. It may release the original Telugu version in international markets or remake the film with a new international cast and crew. A final decision has not been made yet.
