Nagpur: A major fire broke out at an incense stick godown near the exit of Kawrapet flyover in Kalamna on Friday night, reducing large quantities of stock to ashes.As per the fire department, an alert was received around 9.30 pm, following which six fire tenders from multiple fire stations were rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after hours of intensive efforts, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.Officials said the operation continued well into the night as incense sticks remained highly combustible even after the flames were extinguished.Senior police inspector Kale of Kalamna police station, who was present at the scene, said a preliminary investigation suggested the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit. “The exact cause will be ascertained only after a detailed investigation,” he said.No casualties or injuries were reported till the time of filing this report. The extent of the financial losses is yet to be assessed.
