Panaji: Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed parts of Goa on Sunday, with Sanquelim emerging as the wettest location in the state, recording 91.6mm of rainfall, followed closely by Valpoi at 85mm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy showers accompanied by gusty winds over the next four days.Despite the recent spells, the cumulative southwest monsoon rainfall for the season continues to remain below normal. From June 1 to July 5, seasonal rainfall stands at 812.9mm, 26% below normal.The IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall at many places in Goa from July 6 to July 8. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places, accompanied by gusty surface winds of 50–60 kmph.Authorities have advised fishermen, tourists and the public to exercise caution during periods of intense rainfall and strong winds, particularly in coastal areas and low-lying regions vulnerable to waterlogging.
