NEW DELHI: New York witnessed demonstrations in support of ‘cockroaches’, on Tuesday, as students and members of Indian diaspora rallied over alleged irregularities in the NEET examinations.The protesters gathered at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in New York City’s Union Square carrying placards in support of students.Protests spread to LondonSimilar solidarity demonstrations were held in London, where protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission in support of the nationwide movement demanding accountability over the alleged NEET irregularities and reforms in India’s education system.Holding placards and raising slogans, the demonstrators expressed support and called for greater transparency, accountability and reforms in the country’s examination and education system.Wangchuk shifted to private hospitalWangchuk, who is still on a hunger strike, was shifted from the protest site at Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital last week. He, on Tuesday, was transferred to a Medanta hospital after the Delhi High Court permitted the move.Meanwhile, opposition parties have extended support to Wangchuk’s agitation and staged protests in the national capital, demanding accountability over the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the NEET examination.
