GHAZIABAD: All schools in Ghaziabad, from nursery to Class 12, will remain closed on Thursday following heavy rainfall and waterlogging in several parts of the district. The order was issued on Thursday morning on the directions of the district magistrate. According to the district basic education officer (BSA), the closure applies to all government, private, aided and unaided schools affiliated with all recognised education boards.“In view of the heavy rainfall in the district and as per the directions of the district magistrate, classes from nursery to Class 12 will not be conducted on July 9,” the district magistrate said in the order. The decision comes after overnight rain led to waterlogging on several roads and low-lying areas, disrupting traffic and raising concerns over the safety of students and school transport.Authorities said the precautionary measure was taken to avoid inconvenience and ensure the safety of children amid the continuing spell of rain.Several parts of Ghaziabad witnessed heavy showers since late Wednesday night, with commuters facing slow-moving traffic during the morning rush hour due to inundated roads. Parents were informed about the closure through official orders and school communication channels.Schools have been directed to comply with the order, and students have been advised to remain indoors unless necessary. District authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and civic conditions.“Further decisions regarding the reopening of schools will be taken depending on rainfall and weather conditions over the next few days,” said an official.
