Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Flash Sports & Media Holdings, Inc. Johri to spearhead cricket business growth
Flash Sports & Media Holdings believes Johri’s expertise in rights monetisation, franchise development, sponsorships, and league management will help accelerate its long-term growth strategy. The company plans to leverage his experience to pursue high-value broadcasting and digital media rights, expand its domestic and international T20 league portfolio, and strengthen its franchise business. This includes supporting initiatives such as the company’s recent acquisition of the Galle Gallants franchise in the Lanka Premier League.
Nearly 35 years of sports and media experience
Johri brings close to 35 years of leadership experience across sports, media, and entertainment.As the first-ever CEO of the BCCI, he oversaw Indian cricket’s domestic and international operations, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the National Cricket Academy. During his tenure, he introduced the e-auction system in cricket and played a pivotal role in securing BCCI media rights worth more than $3 billion. Before his BCCI stint, Johri served as President of Business at Zee Entertainment Enterprises, where he led revenue strategies and contributed to the launch of the UAE-based ILT20 league. He also held senior leadership positions at Discovery Networks, overseeing operations across South and Southeast Asia.
