Chennai: VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Saturday alleged that certain forces were deliberately distorting his speeches to weaken his leadership, claiming the criticism was driven by political hostility.Addressing a party event in Kancheepuram, he said several people were targeting him out of animosity. “They want to destroy my leadership. That is why they keep saying I am indecisive and inconsistent in my political decisions,” he said.Responding to criticism over his comments on maintaining cordial ties with DMK leaders despite being part of the ruling TVK-led govt, Thirumavalavan said his critics were failing to differentiate between personal relationships and political positions. He said Union home minister Amit Shah and Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had called to greet him on his birthday and that he had thanked them. “That is personal friendship beyond politics,” he said.Thirumavalavan maintained that his ideological opposition to BJP and sanatana dharma remained firm, saying that he would continue to oppose practices that discriminate against people on the basis of birth, caste and language.
