Fitness, music and art bring Whitefield alive

Bengaluru: Music, dance, fitness and creativity took over the streets of Whitefield Sunday as residents of all ages gathered for another edition of the Times of India’s Happy Streets, presented by Bhima Jewellers, turning a usually busy stretch near Bagmane Neon Gate 1 into a lively, vehicle-free community space.Building on the initiative’s focus on reclaiming public spaces, the event offered a packed morning of performances and interactive activities.The programme began with a guided meditation session by Heartfulness before Step Nation set a soothing tone with an instrumental veena performance. Swinglers Dance Inc then brought participants onto the street with energetic dance and fitness sessions, while Tejas Krishna added a musical flourish with a live darbuka performance.Children and families gravitated towards activity zones spread across the venue. Q-Shala’s “My India Quest” engaged participants through an interactive quiz, Tyson entertained audiences with a magic show, and TAG Comedy Club kept the crowd laughing with a live comedy performance.Classical and contemporary dance recitals by Lalitha Kala Natya Shale and Rudra Academy of Performing Arts and Fine Arts added colour to the morning.Away from the stage, visitors explored a range of experiential activities. Infinity Gym introduced residents to basic fitness equipment and workout routines, while Meraki School of Art hosted art and craft sessions for children.The Postcrossing Welfare Society of India (PSOI) encouraged visitors to rediscover the beauty of handwritten communication through postcard writing and philately.From wellness and performing arts to games and community engagement, the event drew together residents across generations, reinforcing Happy Streets’ objective of transforming public roads into shared spaces for recreation, learning and neighbourhood interaction.
