Deputy CM Eknath Shinde orders action in banner collapse, seeks audit of all hoardings in city
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered the swift removal of all unauthorized advertising hoardings

THANE: Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the Thane Municipal Corporation to remove all unauthorized hoardings across the city without delay.He also issued instructions to conduct an immediate structural audit of all hoardings and advertising boards installed in the city to avoid any accidents during the monsoon due to strong winds and heavy rain.Shinde took serious cognizance of the Monday banner collapse accident in Thane and immediately spoke to the Commissioner over the phone directing him to take corrective action.Following these directives, the Thane Municipal Corporation launched an enforcement drive.Shinde warned that stringent legal action be taken against those who install hoardings or banners illegally and even those legal installations that are found to be unsafe during a safety audit.Meanwhile, the Naupada police late Monday booked an unknown person for the incident following a complaint by the Thane Municipal Corporation. Further investigations are on, officials said.
