Chandigarh: BJP state president Dr Archana Gupta on Sunday accused the Congress of turning govt recruitment into a system driven by political connections and middlemen, forcing poor families to sell land, houses and jewellery to secure jobs.She said the BJP had instead replaced “recommendation slips” with books.Addressing a felicitation ceremony at Shakuntla Garden of Bhiwani, Gupta said Haryana’s youth were now preparing in libraries and securing govt jobs on merit without “parchi-kharchi”. She credited former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar with making recruitment transparent and said CM Nayab Singh Saini was strengthening the system further.Taking aim at the Congress over recruitment irregularities, Gupta said the govt failed to take stringent action against 69 paper leaks that took place during its rule. “Paper leak mafia, which earlier roamed fearlessly, are now trembling due to the law,” she said, referring to the stringent anti-paper leak legislation brought in by the Narendra Modi govt, which provides for fines of up to Rs 10 crore and imprisonment of up to 10 years.On women’s empowerment, Gupta said the Congress had treated women as a vote bank, while the Modi govt had worked for their dignity, security and rights. She cited the 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, toilets, Ujjwala and housing schemes as key initiatives.“If there is any true guardian of women, it is PM Narendra Modi and CM Nayab Singh Saini,” she said.Gupta also targeted former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda on farmers’ issues, claiming the BJP govt had ended the role of middlemen and taken steps to ensure remunerative prices. She said Rs 6,000 was being transferred annually to farmers under PM-Kisan and described procurement of 24 crops at MSP in Haryana as a “historic” farmer-centric decision.Urging farmers to adopt natural farming and crop rotation, Gupta warned against excessive pesticide use, saying it harmed both soil and health.Praising Bhiwani’s sporting talent, Gupta said the district’s daughters had brought laurels to Haryana by winning a “shower of medals”, particularly gold medals.Women and child development minister Shruti Choudhry said, “BJP does what it says,” while former Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhry praised Gupta’s organisational style and said she had infused new energy among women workers.
