Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 42-year-old Zilla Parishad teacher from Nanded, who died after driving his car into the Godavari river along with his two young children on Friday, had allegedly killed the children with a sharp weapon before taking the extreme step, the police said after receiving the postmortem reports.Deputy superintendent of police Prashant Shinde said the autopsy of the teacher’s 13-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son revealed multiple stab wounds.“On July 16, More had left home in his car with his two children after an argument with his wife. He travelled on the Nanded-Mudkhed Road. While the children, tired from the overnight journey, were fast asleep in the car, the teacher is suspected to have stabbed them with a knife on their chest and stomach,” Shinde said.Following the findings, the Nanded rural police have added murder charges against the deceased teacher, Sunil More, who allegedly drove his car into the Godavari near Amdura village.The police are now trying to establish the exact sequence of events and identify the location where the children were allegedly killed.“We are examining CCTV footage from roadside eateries, dhabas, petrol pumps to find out exactly where More killed his children, possibly on the Nanded-Mudkhed Road,” Shinde said.The investigation has widened after the double murder came to light through the autopsy findings. Officers are collecting digital and forensic evidence to reconstruct More’s movements before his death.Earlier, based on a complaint filed by More’s father, the Nanded rural police registered a case against four people on charges of abetment to suicide and other offences. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, has also been invoked in the case.Police said More had contacted one of his colleagues shortly before his death and claimed to possess evidence against his superiors.“He told his colleague that he has strong evidence against his superior officers, and it is on the laptop and mobile. We have seized More’s mobile and laptop, which will be sent to the forensic lab,” the police said.
