Architecture and civil engineering univ to be opened at MIT, says Samrat

Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Sunday launched 982 development projects worth Rs 1,047 crore in Muzaffarpur and announced the establishment of a specialised university for architecture and civil engineering on the campus of the Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology.Samrat said the proposed university would emerge as a major centre for technical education, research and innovation, creating new opportunities for Bihar’s youth.Of the 982 projects, 669 will be executed under the chief minister comprehensive urban development scheme at a cost of Rs 375 crore. Three projects under the storm water drainage scheme will be taken up at a cost of Rs 234 crore, while works under the Muzaffarpur Smart City initiative and other schemes will be implemented at a cost of Rs 213 crore.The CM also inaugurated the Sikandarpur Lake Front, developed under the Muzaffarpur Smart City project, and inspected the facilities there. A video showcasing the night view of the lakefront was presented before him. Samrat said the project, equipped with fountains, lighting and artworks, had given the city a new identity and directed officials to ensure adequate illumination across the premises.Addressing a programme organised by the urban development and housing department and Buidco at the MIT ground, Samrat said construction work on the Muzaffarpur airport would begin soon. He added that the proposed Patna-Muzaffarpur rapid rail corridor would reduce travel time between the two cities to around 40 minutes.The CM said the Haldia-Raxaul highway would further strengthen Muzaffarpur’s connectivity and enable people to reach Kolkata in six hours after the project is completed.Samrat also thanked Union home minister Amit Shah and former CM Nitish Kumar for launching the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Mata Sita in Sitamarhi.He said Rs 10,000 each had so far been transferred to the bank accounts of 1.81 crore Jeevika Didis under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana to help them start businesses and create self-employment opportunities. The remaining beneficiaries, he added, would receive the amount after his govt completes 100 days in office.Samrat said Muzaffarpur would emerge as a major centre of development in the vision of a ‘Viksit Bihar’.
