Exide sees 27% YoY jump in Q1 net, turnover marks 17% rise

Kolkata: Exide Industries has registered a 27.1% year-on-year jump in Q1 net profit, from Rs 320 crore to Rs 407 crore. The Q1 turnover of the company was up by 17.6% to Rs 5,305 crore, from Rs 4,510 crore in the last fiscal.Increased affordability and positive sentiment from GST 2.0 reforms continued to drive demand for automotives into the new financial year, the company said. This fiscal, Exide has made calibrated price adjustments to mitigate the impact of higher input costs, while continuing to accrue benefits from cost excellence initiatives and supply-chain efficiencies. Automotive OEM business delivered over 25% YoY growth for the third consecutive quarter, continuing to remain one of the fastest-growing businesses for the company.Commenting on the performance, Exide MD & CEO Avik Roy said: “We have entered FY27 with confidence, building on the strong momentum achieved in the second half of FY26. The continued benefits of GST rationalisation have further strengthened end-customer demand across the automotive sector, with the replacement market remaining robust. Growth opportunities also remain encouraging across automotive OEMs, home inverters, industrial UPS, solar, other infrastructure-related projects and exports.
