Patna: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her younger brother-in-law at Imadpur village under Parsa Bigha police station area in Jehanabad district on Wednesday morning. The victim, Anshu Devi, was the wife of Dharmendra Kumar. The incident stemmed from an argument over serving food late and with dirty hands, police said.According to the police, the accused, Kunal Kumar, allegedly beheaded Anshu following a dispute over food and later hung the severed head from a banyan tree near his house. Villagers caught him and handed him over to police. The incident occurred when Anshu was alone at home, while other family members were in the fields for paddy transplantation.Kunal, who had returned from work, asked for food. An argument allegedly broke out after the meal was served late. Police said he became enraged and attacked her with an axe, killing her on the spot.A team from Parsa Bigha police station rushed to the spot aftr being informed about the incident, recovered the body, and sent it to the Sadar hospital for post-mortem. Police arrested Kunal from the village and seized the suspected murder weapon. He was later remanded to judicial custody after being produced in court.Parsa Bigha SHO Sarv Narayan said, “The exact motive behind the crime is yet to be established. Prima facie, the murder appears to have been triggered by a dispute over food. However, all angles are being probed.”
