Kalaburagi: Ashok Nagar police in Kalaburagi city arrested two men in connection with a case in which they allegedly attempted to murder a bar and restaurant owner by brandishing an object resembling a pistol.The accused, Syed Jilan, 36 and Javed Patel, 35, both residents of Iqbal Colony in the city’s MSK Mill area, were arrested. Police seized a grey-coloured gas lighter resembling a pistol, which was allegedly used during the incident. The accused were remanded to judicial custody on Thursday.According to police, on the afternoon of July 22, the two accused visited a bar and garden restaurant at Afzalpur Cross in Biddapura Colony for a meal. While seated in the air-conditioned section, they began spitting gutka, which led to an argument with a waiter.When the matter was brought to the attention of the bar manager, he instructed the waiter to pacify the men and ask them to leave. However, when they repeated the behaviour, the bar owner’s brother questioned them. During the confrontation, Syed Jilan allegedly threatened him by brandishing an object resembling a pistol, leading to the registration of an attempted murder case at Ashok Nagar police station.Based on CCTV footage and other evidence collected during the investigation, police traced and arrested the accused. They were subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Police commissioner Sharanappa SD commended the officers and staff for successfully tracing and arresting the accused in the attempted murder case.
