Bhopal: A 40-year-old woman has been booked for allegedly extorting Rs 20 lakh from a senior health department officer by threatening to implicate him in a false rape case. Habibganj police registered an FIR after the officer submitted bank records, WhatsApp chats, audio recordings and other evidence of alleged blackmail over two years.The officer alleged that after borrowing money from him on various pretexts, the woman threatened criminal complaints and reputational damage. Police said she allegedly demanded more money despite receiving payments. Further investigation is underway.
