NEW DELHI: Road transport ministry has expanded the number of services that can be availed online through voluntary Aadhaar authentication from 58 to 100. The newly added services include applying for driving licence (DL), adding a vehicle class to existing DL, permanently surrendering DL, and updating mobile number linked to DL.Those who don’t opt for this Aadhaar authentication or don’t have an Aadhaar number, can avail such services in physical form by establishing identity by submitting an alternative document with the authority concerned. “This is aimed at bringing more services under the faceless scheme,” said an official.Under vehicle registration category, change of name and updating mobile number in RC, their renewal, addition and nominee details in RC, cancellation of NOC by owner and cancellation of RC have also been brought under faceless scheme.Similarly, owners will be able to deposit and seek refund of motor vehicle tax, and transfer ownership in death cases online. As per a notification, addition, termination and continuation of hypothecation has been included in online services.The expanded online services also include conversion of vehicles from transport to personal, vintage registration and assignment of new registration marks after moving to another state.
