Hyderabad: Nearly 56 lakh voters have been flagged for deletion from electoral rolls under the special intensive revision (SIR), with five days remaining for digitisation of enumeration forms. The identified electors constitute 16.5% of the state’s 3.38 crore electorate.The figure could rise as nearly 19 lakh enumeration forms, representing 5.6% of the electorate, were yet to be digitised as on Wednesday. The status of these electors would be determined once the remaining forms get processed by the Aug 10 deadline.Permanent migration forms largest shareThe nearly 56 lakh electors identified for deletion fall under the uncollectable enumeration forms category. Of them, around 34.2 lakh electors, or 10.1% of the state’s total electorate, were found to have permanently shifted from their registered addresses.Another 8.9 lakh electors, accounting for 2.6% of the electorate, were reported dead. Around 6.3 lakh electors were classified as absent or untraceable, while 6.2 lakh were identified as duplicate voters or persons already enrolled elsewhere.Uncollectable forms remain a substantial component of the revision exercise. The burden is concentrated largely in the Hyderabad metropolitan region, where urban constituencies also account for a significant share of forms awaiting digitisation.Digitisation has crossed four-fifths of the electorate, indicating that most of the data-entry exercise has been completed. However, the pending 19 lakh forms could alter the deletion figures before the process closes.Northern districts report higher anomaly ratesThe latest report shows that nearly one in every five electors is reflected under the anomaly category, though the proportion varies widely across Telangana. Northern districts have recorded higher anomaly percentages than districts in the Hyderabad metropolitan region.The anomaly category is distinct from the electors placed under uncollectable forms. It covers inconsistencies detected during the revision and digitisation process.Absent, shifted and dead discrepancies and duplicate or similar entry cases account for a relatively small share of the electorate.
