MEERUT: A 17-year-old girl died at the Government Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun after her brother allegedly failed to get a stretcher or an ambulance for nearly an hour, family members claimed. Farman, a resident of Khairi village under Bilsi police station limits, said his sister, Tarannum, developed complications on Friday afternoon. Doctors referred her for further treatment, but no stretcher was provided, forcing Farman to carry her on his shoulder. She died before they could reach the hospital gate. The family further alleged that no ambulance was available even to transport the body, which was eventually taken home in an auto-rickshaw. Hospital authorities, however, said Tarannum, a tuberculosis (TB) patient, had been advised treatment in the medicine department, but her family declined and left the premises.
