CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Core members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will meet at founder Abhijeet Dipke’s residence in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on August 5 to discuss the outfit’s future course of action, sources said on Sunday.According to news agency PTI, CJP activists and volunteers were asked to spend time with their families after the outfit’s month-long agitation against the alleged NEET paper leak at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar last month.The core members of the CJP were also asked to interact with volunteers and students and bring their feedback, views and suggestions to the upcoming meeting, sources said.The outfit will hold a press conference after the August 5 meeting to announce decisions on its future course of action, sources said.Meanwhile, Dipke met students, locals and visitors from neighbouring districts at his residence and celebrated Friendship Day with children.Earlier, Abhijeet Dipke urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to go beyond social media gestures and direct authorities to withdraw cases filed against student protesters.“Don’t just offer forgiveness on Instagram; direct the police to withdraw the cases as well. Withdraw the cases filed against these students,” Dipke told ANI.Demanding a formal apology over the police action against students on July 20, Dipke said the Prime Minister’s “forgiveness” could not be discussed unless the government first acknowledged the alleged “brutality” faced by the protesters.“PM Modi should apologise to the students who were subjected to a lathicharge on July 20, those who suffered head injuries, pellet gun wounds, and serious injuries such as broken arms and legs. Apologise to them first; only then can you talk about forgiveness,” he said.The CJP-led protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET paper leak scandal received widespread support from Gen Z across the country, eventually leading to Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation last week.(With agency inputs)
