Officials in Venezuela say the death toll from the back-to-back earthquakes last week has risen to more than 1,700 people. It comes as rescue teams from around the world continue to comb through the rubble of toppled building for survivors. The United Nations estimates the death toll could climb as high as 10,000 people.
