Dhanbad: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming from a technological tool into a new paradigm for learning, reasoning and problem-solving that will fundamentally reshape education, research and innovation, Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, professor of computer science and engineering at IIT Kharagpur and former director of the institute, said while addressing faculty members of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Saturday.The lecture was part of the institute’s orientation programme for the new academic session, focused on the potential of AI in academics and scientific research.Explaining the fundamentals of AI, Chakrabarti said the technology is based on three key pillars—representation, reasoning and learning. “AI can solve complex problems by representing them in a generic form, reasoning through possible solutions and continuously improving through learning,” he said.Highlighting AI’s role in education, Chakrabarti said, “Modern AI systems can generate high-quality textbooks, study material, questions, answers and explanations within hours.“
