Hisar: A Hisar court on Friday sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl in 2022.Additional district and sessions judge Sunil Jindal convicted the accused and imposed a fine of Rs 55,000.According to police, the man stalked his 14-year-old neighbour, a Class IX student, pressuring her to marry him while threatening to kill her family and himself if she refused.Police said the man abducted the girl and took her to his aunt’s house in Ludhiana, where the assault occurred. The man’s brother later brought the victim home and coerced her into giving a false statement to shield the accused.The victim initially complied due to pressure, but later revealed the full ordeal to her parents when police summoned the family. Police recorded a fresh statement, conducted a medical examination and pressed charges against the accused.
