Preity Zinta is set to return to mainstream Hindi cinema with ‘Batwara 1947’, nearly a decade after her last major Bollywood appearance. The actor stars alongside Sunny Deol in the Aamir Khan production, and the trio recently appeared on the opening episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.During the episode, the stars discussed their upcoming film and revisited several memories from their years in the industry. Preity also recalled her first interaction with Sunny, revealing that the actor once reprimanded her for calling his home late at night. When asked about the contrasting personalities of Sunny and his younger brother Bobby Deol, Preity said the two are completely different. Speaking about her equation with Bobby, she recalled, “Bobby is my friend. I have known him even before he and I made our debut in the movies. Bobby had a van and all of us used to go out in that van,”Preity then narrated an amusing incident from her early days in the industry. On one occasion, while she was out with a group of friends, they decided to call Bobby and inform him that they planned to visit. Preity volunteered to make the call, unaware that Sunny would answer the landline.“I called. I didn’t know that his dhai kilo ka haath would take the call,” she said, referring to Sunny’s iconic dialogue about his powerful hand. The memory prompted laughter from both actors as Preity continued with the story. “I said, ‘Hi, can I speak to Bobby please?’ I think it must have been 10:30-11 pm at night. And he said, ‘Is this the time to call anyone’s home?’”Caught off guard by Sunny’s reaction, Preity said she became nervous and immediately ended the call. She recalled being “very nervous” around the actor during the initial years of their acquaintance and said it took two or three films for them to become comfortable with each other.Preity and Sunny subsequently worked together in films including ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’ and ‘Farz’.Sunny also offered his perspective on the incident, explaining that he was particularly strict about Bobby’s routine during those years. “We were not allowed to go out after 8 pm. And it was around 10:30 pm. I see Bobby as my son, so I was always very strict with him, in terms of discipline, but he would sneak around a lot.”Preity added that the incident took place around the period when Bobby had met his future wife, Tanya Deol. The couple went on to marry in 1996.Preity and Bobby have shared the screen on several occasions, including popular films such as ‘Soldier’ and ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’. Preity also made a special appearance in ‘Dillagi’, which featured Sunny and Bobby in the lead roles alongside Urmila Matondkar.
