RSGPC objects to siropa presented to Manpreet Badal
Former Punjab minister Manpreet Singh Badal

Amritsar: The Rajasthan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (RSGPC), ad hoc, has objected to the alleged presentation of a siropa (robe of honour) to former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal during the Miri Piri March at village Badal, asserting that Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of Sikh conduct) and Panthic traditions are above any individual or office. In an open letter to Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, RSGPC (ad hoc) vice-president Baljinder Singh Morjand alleged that SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami had bestowed a siropa on Manpreet Singh Badal, whom he described as a patit (apostate).Morjand said the Sikh community is committed to upholding and following Sikh Rehat Maryada, but incidents of alleged negligence by those holding positions in Panthic institutions were causing deep hurt to the sentiments of the Sangat.
