Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate on Thursday organised a workshop to strengthen police understanding of transgender rights and promote inclusive policing in line with the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and Rules, 2020.The workshop was held at the Reserve Police Lines seminar hall on the directions of police commissioner Tarun Gauba.Around 120 police personnel, including inspectors, sub-inspectors and women constables posted at Pink Booths, attended the workshop.The session was led by Yaduvendra Singh of Pahal Foundation, who briefed participants on the legal, social and practical aspects of engaging with the transgender community. The training focused on provisions of the Transgender Persons Act, rights of transgender persons, sensitivity in police interactions, confidentiality, and prompt handling of complaints.Participants were also informed about the Transgender Help Desk at Kaiserbagh police station and the assistance available through the facility.Police officials said the initiative aimed to promote respectful, non-discriminatory policing and strengthen trust between law enforcement agencies and the transgender community.
