Koppal: MLA K Raghavendra Hitnal rushed to Bengaluru on Thursday to meet Congress state in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala amid speculation over his dissatisfaction with the recent Cabinet expansion.Hitnal, who had arrived in Koppal on Wednesday night, left unexpectedly for Bengaluru on Thursday morning, triggering fresh political chatter.Responding to reports that the MLA was upset after missing out on a ministerial berth, cabinet minister Basavaraj Rayareddi urged him not to take any extreme step.“If Raghavendra Hitnal is considering resignation, he should withdraw such a decision. I am only an instrument; it is as good as Raghavendra himself being a minister. Whatever grievances he has will be addressed by the party leadership,” Rayareddi told reporters.Rajasekhar Hitnal, Koppal MP and brother of Raghavendra Hitnal, said the MLA was disappointed at not being inducted into the Cabinet and had gone to meet Surjewala to press for the remaining ministerial berth.“He is upset that he did not get a ministerial position. We are meeting Surjewala to request that the remaining Cabinet berth be allotted to him. The question of resigning as an MLA does not arise. Whatever dissatisfaction exists will be resolved within the party framework, and we will continue our efforts for a ministerial post,” Rajasekhar Hitnal said.The developments come amid ongoing discussions within the Congress over allocation of the lone remaining berth in the state cabinet.
