Five years after a Goa court acquitted him, former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal was convicted of raping a junior colleague during a work event in 2013.
A division bench of Justices Neela Gokhale and Amit Jamsandekar overturned the 2021 verdict and convicted Tejpal under provisions covering aggravated rape by a person in a position of trust, authority, control or dominance, along with sexual harassment, outraging a woman’s modesty, wrongful restraint and wrongful confinement.
