Ahmedabad: With mosquito nuisance increasing during the monsoon and concerns over vector-borne diseases rising, AMC has intensified inspections of construction sites across the city.AMC health department inspected 1,016 construction sites in July and found mosquito breeding at 211 locations. Notices were issued to 349 sites where mosquito breeding was detected, or conditions were found that could encourage breeding. Sixteen construction sites were sealed after officials uncovered heavy mosquito breeding.The sealed sites were spread across the city, including two each in the Central, North, East, South and South-West zones, three each in the West and North-West zones. Along with issuing notices, AMC collected penalties amounting to Rs 10 lakh from errant construction sites.Among those fined, the Snehal Exotica project in Gota was penalised Rs 50,000, while the Puja Diamond site in Bodakdev was fined Rs 40,000. The Naroda Lewis project in Naroda was fined Rs 30,000. Fines of Rs 25,000 each were imposed on the Gokul Palace site in Naroda, Shyam Status Two in Sardarnagar and DHS Doorbeat in Lambha.
