Varanasi: The CBI arrested Nitesh Agarwal, senior divisional materials manager of the North Eastern Railway’s Varanasi division, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1.70 lakh on Thursday evening.According to officials, Agarwal had allegedly demanded the bribe from a contractor supplying furniture to the railways in return for clearing bills and facilitating contract-related work. The contractor subsequently lodged a complaint with the CBI.After verifying the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the officer allegedly accepting the bribe.Following the arrest, CBI teams conducted searches at Agarwal’s office, residence and other locations linked to him.The agency is also questioning family members and railway employees and examining documents related to properties, bank accounts and other financial records.
