NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday alleged that activist Sonam Wangchuk‘s family and legal team were facing restrictions after he was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital.In a post on X, the party claimed that Wangchuk’s wife was not allowed to carry her mobile phone inside his hospital room and alleged that his medical reports had not been shared with the family.The CJP further alleged that Wangchuk’s personal lawyers and doctors were not being allowed to meet him at the hospital.“Peak dictatorship happening at Safdarjung Hospital by government. Sonam sir’s wife is not allowed to take her phone inside hospital room. His medical reports are not shared with the family. No personal lawyers or doctors are allowed to meet,” the party wrote in its post.Why are you not letting my phone to be taken up’In the video shared by CJP’s official X account, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali Angmo can be heard questioing the doctors for not letting her take her phone upstairs. “Why you are not letting my phone to be taken up? You understand sir, Article 32 as a free individual? Please be professional. This is a fundamental right,” she can be heard saying further.“There is nothing else happening. Why are we not allowed to take our phone upstairs? Why are we not getting a digital copy of the medical report?”‘No treatment should start without my consent: Wangchuk’s wifeIn an earlier X post, Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali J Angmo said that no medical treatment should be given to Wangchuk without her consent. “He is at Safdarjung Hospital. I forbid them from administering anything without my consent. No treatment should start without my consent,” Angmo told news agency PTI.Activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed from Jantar Mantar early Saturday and taken to VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital as his hunger strike against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination entered Day 21.
