A stolen car has flipped onto its bonnet after the driver crashed at high speed while allegedly trying to evade police.
Police chased the vehicle through suburbs in Melbourne’s north-east last night and arrested the male driver and female passenger.
Victoria Police said officers were called to reports of people loitering suspiciously in Altona Street, Heidelberg Heights about 11:40pm Thursday.
Officers arrived at the scene and saw two people in a stolen Kia Rio leaving the area at high speed.
Officers followed the vehicle through Heidelberg West and into Preston, where the 30-year-old female passenger got out and was arrested.
The Kia then continued through Thornbury and Kingsbury, before returning to Preston.

Victoria Police said the vehicle reached speeds of up to 120km/h before the driver lost control of the car and hit a tree on Gilbert Road, Preston.
The vehicle ended up on its roof at the scene of the crash.
A 46-year-old man was taken to hospital under police guard with non-life threatening injuries.
The vehicle is believed to have been stolen from an address in Thomastown.
The man and woman will be interviewed over the incident.
