Tsunami warning issued for NZ’s South Island after magnitude-6.3 earthquake

A tsunami warning has been issued in New Zealand following a magnitude-6.3 earthquake.

The quake struck 40 kilometres north of Te Anau, with the west coast of the South Island from Milford Sound to Puysegur Point, likely to be affected.

New Zealand’s National Emergency Management Agency said that land inundation is likely in those areas, and urged people to move to the nearest high ground.
